Thanks to a new sheet metal printing technique, JC Bordelet has freed up the possibilities of steel design and customers can now design their own fireplace! Seguin-Duteriez is a company that has operated in the wood-fired heating sector for 30 years. Initially specialising in manufacturing stone fireplaces, cast iron and steel fireboxes and wood-burning stoves, in 2006 the company bought Bordelet Industries and expanded its range of designer, original, distinctive steel fireplaces. In 2010, Seguin-Duteriez Group CEO Aymeric de Galembert met with one of his suppliers, who presented some samples of digital printing on sheet metal. This gave him the idea of applying this principle to one of the Group’s fireplaces. In fact, Bordelet had just released one ideal for this type of project: the Irena fireplace. Until now, it had only been available in gloss paint with a choice of 180 colours. Seven designs were created, from traditional to trendy: Arabesques (baroque style), Scrolls, Quartering and Abstract (very ‘pop art’), Pixels (‘pixel art’), Tags and Graffiti (‘street art’). Aymeric de Galembert: “This project is important to us as it forms part of JC Bordelet’s innovative, avant-garde spirit as the first company to present a colour designer fireplace 20 years ago. The possibilities are endless with this technique. We are even planning to offer bespoke products using our customers’ own designs and photos.”
